Impressive list!

Thanks Dee. Almost all are from Northern California. I think maybe 4 or 5 are from Socal.
I still have some species, mostly snakes, that apparently are fairly common but for some reason I can never find 'em. Rubbers and nightsnakes are the main two that I've been in plenty of places and cruised lots of roads where they exist but haven't been fortunate to find either alive. I've found DOR both.

Dee, you've only found one snake, and it was a lyre? That's insane!
I'm jealous though. They're on the top of my list.

Luck or not, the snake found me. I was in San Diego at Sean's parents house. It had rained previously that day so at night we decided to head outside to see what we could find.
I found a wolf spider and Sean found a scorpion. I was walking back to the house and I see the snake about 4 inches from my arm peched on some bricks. I naturally jumped thinking it was rattlesnake. It quickly went down to the bottom of the brick wall and I got a good look at it. Seans Dad kept saying it was a rattlesnake but I knew it wasn't. It was a lyre snake and it was gorgeous! I even got hissed at a few times. Great snake!

Now If I can get lucky this year and find some more snakes! LOL

I am definitely weak in those areas, I have always been focused on snakes. I am totally down with that plan, you can show me some tricks.

Hey, you didn't answer my question about what kind of camera you use.

Also, I think I forgot something on my lifelist... maybe. I have caught horned lizards in Northern Nevada that I think also occur in CA. I need to look that up.

As you can see, I have done pretty well in Nevada. My dad owns a large piece of property in the high sage desert that is great for a large number of snakes and lizards.

Hmmm. Nevada CRIS trip after the AZ trip?? Haha

I updated my list with what I've found up here in Oregon so far, and threw in my DOR's even though I refuse to count them as lifers.

If adding California species outside CA then I can add Wandering Garter (Colorado), Northern Red-legged Frog (Washington), Northern Leopard Frog (NY) and invasive Common Snapping Turtle (Michigan, New York) - but I think I'll try to keep my CA life list at species found in CA.

Are snapping turtles really established here?

-=-

My current goal is to find every native "western stream frog" - i need to find:

1) Rana sierrae again (been over 20 years)
2) Rana muscosa (I'll probably eventually try for the ones in southern sierra's - I think the other locales are pretty much off limit)
3) Rana cascadae (I know a locale here in Shasta County)
4) Rana pretiosa (maybe extirpated here, but it would be fun to go herping in modoc county anyway)

Northern Leopard would be cool too, but they are lithobates
I think there is only one *native* locale of them left.

I had to update mine to include Rhinocheilus lecontei. YES!!!

Also remembered a couple that I had missed before. They were caught in NV, like a lot of my stuff, but do occur in CA.
